Was not sure this morning if the white pelicans were still hanging around here, over a week after I sighted a group in the air. So on my way to the dollar store, I sighted a couple on the water. Great! So after picking up some items at the store, I took the same route back to the lakeshore. This time I turned off by the aquatic center to look for a place to park, and found there was a small lot across from the AC apparently meant for fishermen -- because there was a short path to a nice wooden pier for fishing from. This would have made a good vantage point for shooting photos, except for one little problem: a couple feet were under water. It looked like the water was at least ankle deep, and I was not going to ruin my shoes or risk a slippery fall. So I backed out and found what looked like a boat landing (for rowboats) and had an excellent view of a solitary white egret(?) that was content to pose like a statue thru all my blown photos. It probably thought I was an idiot. Then I finally located the white pelican -- unfortunately the only really good shot was of him paddling away, probably after deciding a camera was still too much of a threat.
