Today I had to re-glue an old, simple wooden chair that I have had for many years. This is not the first time that I have had to re-glue it, but this was the worst it's ever been. Not only were some of the cross struts pulled out, but the back of the seat detached completely from the upright part of the frame. That's bad.
I think this is due to the prolonged and extremely dry air in this apartment building I live in. I have a plastic bucket filled with water next to the heat outlet, which usually helps. But still the air is quite dry.
Fortunately the chair is not one that I actually sit in much; it is mainly for decoration in the bedroom. Think I will have to check all the other chairs later today or tomorrow.
