It's just like that movie, Night of the Living Dead...

advertisement

The way people have been treating Obama these past several months is come to think of it, a lot like that old movie, Night of the Living Dead.

There was this black guy, see? And a motley group of folks ran into this old house to hide from the zombies. The black guy was a busy little beaver, gathering the hammer, nails and wood to board up the windows and doors. Otherwise the zombies would smash right through and eat their brains.

Then after he took care of that task, he set about finding guns and the bullets to supply them. He set guards at different points around the house.

He was the executive, take-charge person, without bullying or bluffing his way along. The others followed him because he was doing the sensible thing. And he was so nice, too. What would happen if they didn't follow along? Why, all those big bad zombie (banks) would eat them alive.

And what thanks does he get? Towards the end, the redneck sheriff shoots him with a rifle and is congratulated by another member of the posse with the words, "Good shot!" Now the redneck types are taking potshots at him because they are not comfortable with a person of color in a position of authority.

I will let you draw your own parallels from here on out.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

You need to re-watch the flip. He and Cooper had it out, a bit :P
