Showers made woman's AT&T phone service a washout

advertisement

Our faith in technology may be over-rated. One Chicago-area woman's landline phone service would wash out every time it rained. Her phone provider tried many quick fixes but the problem was not solved until it rerouted the customer's line.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I thought this was so weird. Water must have been getting into the switch boxes?

We get something similar. We don't completely lose service, but it becomes nearly unusable because we get incredibly loud static. It took weeks last spring before the phone company fixed the problem. I have cell service, so it wasn't THAT much of an issue. But in an emergency, I want my phone! Add to that the face that my cell phone keeps getting up and walking away. Okay, I'm forgetful...lol

Glad the phone company fixed your problem, boons. Meanwhile you might consider putting a leash on that cellphone -- or at least training it to come when you whistle. ;)
