Geek Squad told reader Dave that he didn't have the "technical expertise" to diagnose his clearly-broken iPod. The 30 GB unit wouldn't play when docked or connected by USB cord, something Dave though might be covered by Best Buy's Product Service Plan.

I guess the techie must be deaf in one ear?
I really hate the geek squad for things like this - someone needs to take them down a few pegs. I'm glad seeds like this do so.
Good seed, Minnie.

It really irked me that BB/Geek Squad told this guy he is, in effect, too stupid to know if his iPod works right or not. Da nerve.
Consumerist.com seeds are always welcome on RedTapeRaiders, thanks Minnie...

Good, I wasn't sure about that. I also kinda thought Scott would comment since he had his own little run-in with the Geek Squad.

Scott will but he fell asleep exhausted last nite by 11 pm, the slacker wimp that he is.
He just woke up feeling bad he had not commented so he clipped this to his column so it'd get more exposure.

Poor Scottie, running around getting ready to move and driving himself crazy. We forgive ya the lapse. Try to at least get some rest the night before loading up the U-haul because it'll be a long day.
Never buy Best Buy "protection" plans and always buy IPods directly from Apple. If you have a problem, take it to your local Apple Store and they replace it on the spot. If you mail it in it might take a couple of weeks, but it will be fixed or replaced. My step-son accidentally left his IPod in his pants pocket and washed his pants. Apple replaced the IPod no questions asked.

Hm Best Buy,I worked for them years ago not so many bright bulbs, especially after losing someones lappy and got sued over 1 mil.
I have a 2nd Generation IPod Nano, can't do much with the ITunes but erase songs and I can't use most settings on it.So to put music on it I use Winamp's media player which is a great player to use.Of course Windows Media won't download or sync with the IPod and I use Vista. So I had to download a software that will help syncing but I preferred using the Winamp more.Figured all this on my own by researching, playing and using my brain,lol..The software for Windows is only a 30 day trial got it from Download.com-name is MGTEK.Hope this helps for some having problems with their IPods.
Now I'm trying to figure out why my Dell 1505 lappy wireless card is telling me no adapter or it's not connected.I don't like calling Dell a headache to me and my ears.I know off topic but any ideas from anyone?I also have a Dell Dimension 8400 PC and I got locked out on that one and tried everything except removing the battery to it.I call it my PC Bytch cause it is after what happen,lol..
Anyways a subject and seed I can actually enjoy and thank you for it.
