
Once left for dead as his campaign sputtered low on money, he has come back strong. His debate performances have been dignified and strong, even pointed.
Will the extreme right block a nomination? He has so much that would pull votes from the center, where elections are won or lost.
McCain will turn 72 this summer -- will voters identify with someone who is in Reagan's age bracket when he took office?? They may not want to risk another Alzheimer's administration travesty, y'know.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's decrepit at all. I think he in fact may be the best candidate in the bunch. But he has a lot of opposition in the party for his rebel stands. I like him. I know the f'righties don't like him -- and we will see if they still have enough pull to anoint their standard-bearer.
I'm a Dem peering in--from my vantage point, it seems that McCain is the most electable of the crop of potential Repub nominees and the least scandal-ridden. I think he will wind up with the nomination.
